Republic Gunship or Republic Attack Gunship, also known as Low Altitude Assault Transport / Infantry (LAAT / I for short) is a space vehicle from the Star Wars universe. It is assumed that Republic Gunship was about 28-29 meters long with a height of 6.5-7 meters. It accelerated to around 620 km / h. The crew most often consisted of 2 pilots and 2 to 4 shooters of the deck weapons. The unit could take up to 30 troops on board. Republic Gunship units were used very intensively during the clone wars by the Grand Army of the Republic. The vehicle featured a relatively strong on-board armament consisting of several laser cannons. It was also relatively maneuverable and durable. It was used both as a transport unit and as a fire support unit for own troops, or – in extreme cases – as an air combat machine. It is fairly commonly assumed that ships of this type were used for the first time in 22 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin).
