Description
Mark I 1/144 BAC 1-11-500 Nationwide (South Africa) Includes decals for Nationwide.
The BAC 1-11-500 was a stretched version of the British Aircraft Corporation’s popular short-haul jet, known as the “Super One-Eleven,” and while not a primary South African Airways (SAA) aircraft, it was operated by Nationwide Airlines, a South African carrier, with model kits reflecting this. The 1-11-500 was the longest variant, increasing passenger capacity for airlines like Nationwide Airlines and Dan-Air, featuring rear-mounted Rolls-Royce Spey engines, similar to the DC-9
The BAC 1-11 was a successful design, but its production ended in 1982 (with Romanian license-built models later), though it remained in service with various operators, including Nationwide, for many year
