In 1980, during the Geneva Motor Show, it was presented by the German car manufacturer in Ingolstad its new two-door coupe Audi Quattro. Produced throughout the 1980s, the Italian name highlights its main characteristic: traction on four wheels. The all-wheel drive on a vehicle that had the goal of generating large numbers on the market was in fact an important novelty for the time. The “Quattro” guaranteed good performance combined with an excellent road holding on any type of surface. The front longitudinal engine was able to deliver an appreciable performance. A racing version was also made that debuted in the 1981 World Rally Championship and achieved good results. The success of the “Four” is still renewed today so much so that the Italian name has become a real “brand” that identifies the entire latest range of Audi’s all-wheel drive cars.
