In the early 50s, BMW was looking to meet the demands of the post-war market by adding microcars to its line-up. In 1953, they began production of the Isetta under licence, releasing several versions. To this day, the BMW Isetta 250, which came onto the market in 1955, is still considered emblematic of the “Miracle on the Rhine”. The defining feature of the Isetta’s unusual design was the steering column, which was connected to a cardan joint and swung out with the front door as it opened. The bubble car was driven by a 250 ccm one-cylinder four-stroke engine with a maximum output of 12 hp and a maximum speed of 85 km/h. – Exclusive book on the history of the BMW Isetta (D/GB) – Movable door and steering column that swings out with it – 250 ccm engine – Rotatable wheels – Manual and authentic decals with different number plates (D, NL, B, F, CH, A, I, S, GB)
