Description
The South African Air Force (SAAF) operated approximately 135 Lockheed PV-1 Ventura patrol bombers (often referred to as Ventura GR-5 in SAAF service) during and after World War II. While the aircraft were largely supplied via USN/lend-lease channels and designated as PV-1s, they were flown by South African crews for maritime patrol, anti-submarine warfare, and bombing missions
